Welcome to the Brodeo.
Some of you may know that I do some photos for a friend with an up and coming zine called Stereo Flavors. what a lot of people don’t know is Steven Martinho is also a videographer. We teamed up in the summer last year to combine what we do as a package. Our first try as a retainer went well. As the summer ended and fall began, my clients started buckling down for the end of the last quarter and as always it went out with a bang. I was super busy right up until Christmas. From then on, the season was over for me and I made the best I could out of my little part time gig at the register of a local, popular hoagie shop.
I still had my monthly retainer, Its an especially low rate since we were just trying things out. But between that and my gig, I made it through each month. Last week an email hit that seemed bogus, but I answered anyway. Within a couple of days we had a shoot on the books fuck off a half day and Steve and I went to work again. Both of us had samples out for the client to test their vibe and it was successful immediately. Landing us two more shoots and a retainer also.
Additionally, people are stating to come back out of the woodwork. An old retainer wants to do some update work that their PR is admittedly skipping over. A food tour group, scheduling 3 tours of 3 hours billable. Even some new faces. I love the early spring. Everyone is seeing what their budgets allow for and so many people want to put me up there. I couldn’t be more grateful.
